Vodafone Broadband

Vodafone is a multinational communications company best known for providing network coverage, handsets, and mobile deals.  Vodafone’s broadband offering is still quite new and most customers don’t associate the company with internet just yet. The product on offer is fibre optic broadband, priced competitively when compared to other providers. To find out more about Vodafone broadband, read Hoppy’s helpful guide below.

Broadband speeds on offer

Vodafone has decided to eschew standard broadband in recent years, choosing to focus their product range on fibre instead. Fibre broadband, for those not yet in the know, offers faster speeds and a more reliable connection compared to standard broadband. Due to increasing demand for a superfast connection, Vodafone have chosen to not offer a standard broadband option. Having said this, there are two different deals to consider.

The first is Vodafone Superfast 1, promising to get you an average speed 35Mpbs download and 10Mpbs upload. This is the standard deal and very similar ones are available from other providers. Households with less than five people can comfortably opt for this option as it’ll be enough to cover regular usage. If someone in your household wants to stream in 4K or downloading large files, like video games, then you might start to experience a drop in speed.

The price for this package starts at £22 for existing customers and £24 for new customers. There’s no line rental fee and free delivery is included.

Vodafone’s Superfast 2 will get you an average download speed of 63Mpbs with a 20Mpbs upload speed. It will most suit multi-device households that tend to spend a lot of time online but maybe not all at once. Even though is the more premium option from Vodafone, the speeds on offer pale in comparison to something like Virgin’s 360Mpbs, which would allow for the whole family to be online at the same time. Still, 64Mpbs is in line with a lot of other broadband provider’s offering.

Existing customers will pay £27 a month for this deal while for new customers it’s £29. There’s no charge for line rental and the delivery is free.

Customer service

Vodafone’s customer service is easy to use, and all the information is easily accessible on their website. There’s a phone number and an email address for you. We also like the webchat feature as more and more customers are preferring this method of contact above others – it’s simple, instantaneous, and can be done on the go. There’s also an extensive Q&A section that’s likely address a lot of questions customers might have. It should be mentioned that the Vodafone site is very easy to navigate so you’re never stuck searching for the thing you’re after.

Vodafone also has a broadband speed guarantee across both packages which is quite interesting. If you fail to reach the promised speeds, then you’ll get a 15% discount on your monthly until the problem is fixed. The discount is easy to claim through the Vodafone broadband app.

What’s the verdict on broadband from Vodafone?

Vodafone isn’t going to blow you away with its speed offering (it doesn’t get even close to the speeds offered by Virgin) nor does it have attractive bundle TV deals like Sky. Still, its main advantage is the price – both packages are cheap, and this is likely to appeal to many. Cheap doesn’t mean bad value in this case. Vodafone’s broadband has won three awards from uSwitch and Broadband Genie, including Broadband Provider of the Year 2019. We also like Vodafone’s speed guarantee and easy to claim discount until any speed issues are fixed. Existing Vodafone customers also enjoy lower prices. Overall, this is a solid broadband option for many households as it offers good value and customer service.
