How to compare the best broadband deals
Are you Hoppy with your broadband? If not, it's time for a change. We know that when it comes to broadband, there’s plenty to choose from – multiple providers, countless offerings and tons of packages. Often, the overwhelming choice of options means that we just stick with the same supplier, purely for peace of mind. But with technology advancing so rapidly, especially in entertainment, having the best possible broadband may be more essential than we think. Comparing providers and finding the best broadband deals can sometimes feel like an impossible task, but it shouldn't be!
Broadband comparison is mostly about the 3P’s - price, package, and provider. There are a few factors to consider before making a choice, and where you live will narrow your options. Think about your household, your internet usage and if things like speed are more important than making phone calls. We want you to get more out of life, so it's our mission to find the best deals for you - time to make your home Hoppy.
What are the different types of broadband?
Broadband comes in various forms – so there’s plenty to choose from. The most common type is ADSL broadband, which is provided through existing BT phone lines, and the speed will depend on your proximity from the local telephone exchange. The newer and faster type of broadband is cable, which uses fibre optic cables to transmit your data, making it much faster than ADSL – some providers offer speeds of up to 350MB/s but this does depend on a variety of factors. And, if you want to be completely untethered there’s always the option of going wireless. This can be done using either a USB dongle or a MiFi, as is the case with 3G and 4G mobile broadband.
What type of broadband packages are available?
At Hoppy we believe you should never miss out on a great broadband deal – so choosing the right package is important business. Packages range in shape and size, from Internet only to a phone, TV and Internet bundle. Typically, cost will depend on what’s essential to you – are you looking for unlimited downloads, or is speed more of a priority? You could choose to combine fibre optic speed with an extensive entertainment package, or keep it simple with unlimited broadband and phone calls instead.
What broadband speed can I expect?
The quick answer is, it really depends. There are a number of factors that will affect the speed of your connection. Firstly, it will depend on what type of broadband you have as ADSL, fibre optic and 3G/4G all offer different connection speeds – cable and fibre optic generally being faster. The distance of your home from the telephone exchange will also impact performance. The further you are from the exchange, the slower your internet connection. We can provide an estimate based on your postcode, but for the most accurate results, it’s best to check with your broadband provider.
Whether you’re looking for superfast broadband, unlimited downloads, or something more economical, you’ll find it with Hoppy.
It was surprisingly simple to switch to a new energy deal and I saved about £230.
