The top of the line Samsung Galaxy S10+ is a significant upgrade over its predecessors.

With an offering of almost everything a person needs, there is a lot to like about the S10+. Read on to find out what we think of this stunning phone.

Galaxy S10+ Specs

Weight: 175g
Dimensions: 157.6 x 74.1 x 7.8mm
OS: Android 9 Pie
Screen size: 6.4-inch
Resolution:  6.4” Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O Display

RAM: 8GB/12GB
Storage: 128/512GB/1TB
Battery:  4100mAh
Rear camera: 16MP + 12MP + 12MP
Front camera: 10MP + 8MP

Design and screen:

The phone has a typical display for a flagship model with an edge-to-edge screen, thin metal frame, and depending on the model you buy, either Gorilla Glass or Ceramic back.

The rear cameras are placed in the centre of the device, which means it doesn’t rock when it is placed on its back and almost flush to the rear casing. The front cameras are placed behind the screen which also comes with ultrasonic technology to read your fingerprint.

The Galaxy 10+ comes with a massive 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O display, with almost 100% screen-to-body ratio. Samsung has found a way to fit more pixels across its body, which reduces the size of the bezels around the visible display.

It also features an adaptive display that can cleverly switch between your viewing needs from watching your favourite movie in 4k or playing a very intense game.

The basic model comes in three colours – Black, Green and Prism White, while the more premium model comes in Ceramic Black or Ceramic White.

Performance and processor:

The handset is powerful enough to compete with any other phone on the market so it won’t struggle regardless of what you throw at it. In the UK market, it ships with Samsung’s own Exynos 9820 chip at its heart, which provides plenty of power for day-to-day performance.

The Galaxy S10+ runs the latest version of Android 9 Pie. It is easy to navigate and fully customisable, with an always-on display which makes it handy when looking for updates at a glance.

It also includes Samsung’s smart assistant, Bixby, which can be programmed to help in any number of ways. The little assistant learns as it goes, so the more you use it, the more helpful it becomes to tailor to your individual needs.

Camera:

The phone comes with a veritable tool-kit when it comes to the camera. It offers five lenses across multiple cameras on the front and rear of the phone.

The rear setup comes with three cameras; a 16MP Ultra Wide Camera that captures exactly what you see and how you see it, while the Wide-angle and Telephoto cameras come with 12MP for a more accurate and tailored capture.

On the front, you get dual cameras for the ultimate selfies. Coming with 10MP and 8MP lenses they have a live focus feature, face detection and dual-pixel sensors for some of the most stunning self-portraits on the market. For the first time on a Samsung phone, the front-facing cameras also capture incredible 4K UHD video for when you want to record yourself closer to the action than ever before.

Charging:

Samsung boasts that the Galaxy S10+ will give you all day battery life, and with the 4100mAh capacity they might just be right. Most users will find that with moderate use, they end the day with a good bit of battery, but power users may find that with the intensive performance required to power the screen that they are charging it late in the day.

Extras:

The handset also comes with Samsung’s Wireless Powershare, which is a feature that turns the Galaxy S10+ into a QI wireless charger. This allows you to charge a friend’s phone (or any other QI-enabled device).

It also features the new Hybrid SIM allowing you to use two different numbers or if you don’t want this then the additional slot can be used with a microSD to increase storage.

Finally, this is the first handset on the market to come with Wi-Fi 6, which means faster, more efficient Wi-Fi connectivity.

Price & release date:

The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus is released on the 8th of March.

If you want to buy the phone it comes in a few variants:

SIM-free, it starts from £899 for 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage.

If you want even more internal storage, then there are options starting at £1099 for 512GB, which comes with a ceramic back instead of glass.

There is also an ultimate edition, offering 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, and comes in at £1399. It should be noted that not all retailers offer this option.
