iPhone 11 Pro

The iPhone 11 Pro is very much the most powerful phone on the market. Beyond this label, though, there aren’t too many changes to shout about. It’s a sleek-looking gadget - exactly what we expect from Apple at this point. The handset comes with some clever tweaks but it’s not revolutionising the smartphone market by any stretch of the imagination.

With this in mind, is it worth upgrading to the iPhone 11 Pro? Find out below with Hoppy’s guide where we’ve got all the specs, deals, and information you need to know.

What’s new about the iPhone 11 Pro?

Visually, this model looks very similar to the previous releases. The one standout (and controversial feature) is the triple camera set-up on back. Many reviewers have called it ugly and unnecessarily large, but just as many are in agreement that the cameras produce fantastic photos. The trio of 12MP cameras does not disappoint when it comes to taking a variety of pictures, which is sure to please snap-happy enthusiasts.

We also like the phone fits comfortably in your hand, enhancing the one-handed scrolling functionality we all want. The iPhone 11 Pro is slightly smaller than the 6.1-inch iPhone 11 with its 5.8-inch screen, and the compact size makes it a pleasure to use. The handset has a nice weight to it, so the slightly smaller size doesn’t influence how premium the product looks and feels.

  • Storage: 64GB, 256GB, 512GB

  • Battery: 3190 mAh

A closer look at the iPhone 11 Pro features

Let’s start with the highlight feature of the iPhone 11 Pro: the ultra-wide lens. Its addition means the end of stepping back to fit more into the shot and capturing the best image each time. Apple promises to give you the best photos by utilising something called Deep Fusion. This functionality means that you’ll take eight photos before even pressing the shutter alongside one long exposure shot; the software will then analyse all the images pixel by pixel, presenting you with the best amalgam consisting of optimum colour and lighting. Essentially, Apple is going to apply AI to your photos to get you the best shot every time. Another bonus is the cameras’ low light capabilities – no more fuzzy snaps from a night out. The mode is automatic, ensuring great snaps every time, with high levels of clarity.

Design and display

Design and display-wise the handset is sleek but not distinctive looking against its predecessors. There’s probably not going to be too much variation even for future designs as smartphone innovation levels off; you can only streamline so much. The back of the phone comes with a frosted matt finish that does look and feel beautiful. The colour selection is muted, erring on the safe side (iPhone 11 has all the fun colours) with shades like Gold, Space Grey, Silver, Midnight Green.

Processor and battery

Apple is calling the iPhone 11 Pro the fastest smartphone on the market, and they’ve got the hardware/software combination to back it up. Swapping between apps is smooth, and gamers will love how the handset performs. The A13 chipset runs a native resolution at 60 frames per second, capturing the details of colour and movement, unlike any other handset. To power all this, Apple has improved the battery once again. Expect up to 18 hours of video playback or 11 for streamed; there’s also a fast-charge feature, which will get you 50% charge in about 30 minutes if you use an 18W adapter or higher.

It’s difficult to dislike the new iPhone 11 Pro. It’s a sophisticated handset with truly impressive camera capabilities and a price-tag to match. The three-camera configuration, in our opinion, could look better and the handset isn’t that innovative overall. It’s still a worthy upgrade for anyone looking for a premium handset with great battery life and a fast processor.

iPhone 11 Pro prices and deals

The iPhone 11 Pro is a premium smartphone with a premium price tag – with the prices starting at £1,049 for 64GB, rising to £1,199 for 256GB and £1,399 for 512GB respectively.

There are plenty of deals to be had, but don’t expect any bargains; most contracts will be asking for some upfront costs too. EE will get you the new handset for £46 per month with a £299 upfront cost for a 24-months contract with 50GB of data; Three can nab you the phone for £57 per month for 24-months with a £79 upfront cost and 100GB of data.
