The new iPhone 11

What’s that sound? Must be all the Apple fans rejoicing at the launch of the new iPhone 11. The magic time of the new iPhone release is upon us. Expect gushing reviews declaring that Apple can do no wrong and vocal claims that Apple hasn’t really innovated its tech in years. You’ll probably want to make up your own mind – read Hoppy’s impartial review of the latest iPhone 11 and the deals you can snag below.

What’s new about the iPhone 11?

Perhaps the most surprising thing about the new iPhone 11 is its price. It comes priced lower than last year’s iPhone XR, which is rather unusual but certainly not unwelcome. The handset itself, besides looking sleek, is more responsive, has a much-improved camera, and iOS 13 as standard.

The price is so good at £729 that it’s coming in cheaper than other premium handsets on the market, plus it’s £70 less than last year’s iPhone XR. With that in mind, it’s worth noting that the iPhone 11 isn’t as advanced as its pricier newly released siblings but that might just be enough for many.

A closer look at the iPhone 11 features

It’s only fair to start our closer look at the iPhone 11’s features by talking about the camera. There are now two sensors at the rear of the phone, giving even the most casual of photographers an extra helping hand with snaps. One of the lenses is an ultra-wide angle lens that takes in more of the scene, making each shot feel expansive. Most exciting is the Deep Fusion feature – your new phone will take 8 photos before you even press the shutter. Why? To set the Neural Engine of the A13 Bionic chipset to work, picking out the best pixel from each shot before showing you the final image. It’s almost like saying that you’ll never take a bad picture again. Photos in night mode look fantastic too as the brightness adjusts automatically and the end result looks vastly improved to other iPhone’s night mode shots.

The iPhone 11 feels like a premium product in your hand. The display is LCD, rather than the costlier OLED of higher priced models, but the quality can’t be faulted. Colours are bright and clear without draining the battery too much, which is a bonus in our books.

Gamers will delight at hearing that the iPhone 11 seriously impresses. Not only are the visuals vibrant, but the gaming process is also smooth and complication free. This translates to performing other tasks as well and Apple have said that this release has the fastest CPU of any phone out there.

Battery life is always a contentious topic. Last year’s iPhone XR impressed everyone and the new release promises to take it further by extending the already notable battery life by one hour. It sounds too good to be true but when you consider the more power-friendly display and efficient processor then it starts to sound like a reality.

Overall, we really like iPhone 11’s improved camera (everyone can take pro-quality shots now!), longer battery life and, finally, the cost. It will be appealing to anyone who typically feels priced out of Apple’s new releases and wants a slice of the action too.
